Day 14 of my Berlin diary. Day 1 is here.
Art during the day, but no club tonight. I need to sleep and gather strength for the weekend.
First stop: Akademie der Künste (Academy of the Arts), see header image.
“The Akademie der Künste in Berlin, founded in 1696, is one of the oldest cultural institutes in Europe. It is an international community of artists and has a current total of 409 members in its six Sections (Visual Arts, Architecture, Music, Literature, Performing Arts, Film and Media Arts).”
There always something going on here. Today there’s an exhibition by their students:
My next stop is only 3km away, so I walk
One comes across water,
the pretty Schloss Bellevue,
old, ugly architecture,
and arrives at the Kunstgewerbemuseum.
“The Kunstgewerbemuseum (Museum of Decorative Arts) is the oldest of its kind in Germany. It houses world-famous examples of European arts and crafts, including magnificent reliquaries made of gold and precious gemstones, exquisite vases of glass and porcelain, finely embroidered textiles, ornate inlaid furniture, and classic examples of modern industrial design.”
You think your furniture is waaay cooler? Then watch this:
